ACQUISITIONS & INTEGRATION – BRINGING COMPANIES TOGETHER

Our client acquired a competitor with offices and sites around Australia. The new acquisition was part of a larger global company, who used different technology, different email systems and different networks. DNS IT was involved from beginning to end, and managed the project of migrating the email systems, the applications, the data and the network – all with no downtime or impact to the business.

 

Apart from the mechanics, we also focus on user needs, keeping the people informed and involved in the transition process. DNS IT handled all the helpdesk calls during the transition meaning that at the end of the migration, all our client had to do was simply welcome the new users to the company!

In 18 months, our client grew from 50 users to more than 400 users, with 22 offices, a mix of PCs and laptops, with a network across the country.

 

Rather than establish an internal IT department, our client choose to outsource to DNS IT, and 2 years on, we're providing all the technology needs, including day to day helpdesk, upgrades and improvements, and real, business focused, people minded, project management.

During a periodic check of new telecommunication companies, DNS IT saw an opportunity to reduce costs by moving the communication network from Australia's traditional carrier to a more competitive company.

 

The results were savings of almost 33% on their annual communications costs.

 

PROTECTING YOUR INTERESTS

It's all about timing! Viruses have the ability to seriously affect, sometimes even cripple, any organization, even with virus protection. There's always a window between when the virus is released and when virus protection is updated.

 

Recently, an email virus was released to the internet in the Northern hemisphere during their working day, while it was late evening in Australia. It wasn't until the news broke the next day in Australia that IT teams updated the virus protections, however by that time, many Aussie companies had already unsuspectingly fallen victim to email infections. We were monitoring the news overseas and worked in the early hours to shore up our clients' networks before any infection and some 8 hours before the working day commenced in Australia.

Even though they now have their own IT group, they requested two of our staff permanently on site working as part of the team providing 2nd level help desk support and project management services as required. After several consecutive business acquisitions, our client, a large public works company found itself with over 21 offices distributed all over Australia, stretching across the country including outback areas with different computers, ad-hoc systems and no consistent controls.

 

Working with senior management, we offered various solutions, then designed, managed and implemented a core network ready for business growth. We put a team together and visited each office, upgrading, standardizing and helped the users through the move from a myriad of office networks into one national system.

 

Our client now has a consolidated, consistent and stable network.

 

CAPABLE & DEDICATED

In 2003 a national company suffered a severe network intrusion from the internet. DNS IT staff worked around the clock for seven days to secure the site, then spent the next month repairing the damage. Despite the alarming extent of the intrusion, downtime was less than one day.

 

DOING WHAT IT TAKES

A large national organization with over 4 000 staff spread throughout Australia were experiencing intermittent email problems in Queensland. Investigation revealed that a significant email corruption had occurred and the only way to restore reliable services was to rebuild the server. We had one of our technicians on the next flight, the server was rebuilt during the evening and email was back up and running for the start of business the next day.
